The Lexus LX has been recalled to address a potential problem with its 10-speed automatic transmission that could result in a vehicle fire.
“The affected Lexus LX vehicles are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission that uses linear solenoids to control gear changes,” Lexus Australia said in the recall notice.
“If a solenoid valve fails under certain conditions, the transmission ECT ECU may not communicate the fault to the engine ECU, causing the transmission to over-rev in certain gears.

“This can damage the transmission, cause loss of drive power at higher speeds and, in some cases, result in fluid leaks that come into contact with hot exhaust components.
“These conditions may increase the risk of a collision or fire, which could also increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”
Lexus Australia advises that there are no symptoms or warnings that this condition has occurred and therefore advises owners to take their LXs to a dealer for repair as soon as possible.
- In total 325 LX500ds And 264 LX600 are affected, produced between 2024 and 2025
- The vehicle identification number (VIN) list and recall notice are present attached here
If you own an affected vehicle, you must schedule an appointment with an authorized Lexus dealer to have the transmission ECT ECU software reprogrammed free of charge.
The implementation takes about 30 minutes. However, Lexus notes that you may need to make your vehicle available for an extended period depending on the dealer’s work schedule.
If you have any further questions, you can contact your preferred Lexus dealer or the Lexus Customer Assistance Center on 1800 023 009 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. AEDT on weekdays.
