The classic Land Rover Defender adopts the colors of its flagship successor.
The classic Land Rover Defender is one of the automotive industry’s most treasured icons and certainly one of the greatest legends in the world of off-road driving. The classic Defender built a reputation for reliability, adventure and go-anywhere technology and has since created a new brand within the Land Rover brand.
However, along with the classic Defender comes the reinterpretation of the legendary model, paving its own path as another off-road icon with a design that combines futurism, luxurious elegance and many nods to the original. With a new performance-focused flagship, the OCTA, serving as the basis for the Defender D7X-R rally car whose attempt to win the Dakar Rally is fast approaching, the new Defender is building more legacy than ever since its launch. The OCTA’s 626hp 4.4-litre V8 biturbo engine, luxurious appointments and technology designed for comfort, thrill and off-road confidence certainly contribute too.
Combining the best of the old and new Defender, Land Rover Classic has announced that Defender OCTA colors can be specified for the Classic Defender V8, including Petra Copper, Faroe Green, Sargasso Blue, Patagonia White and Narvik Black. The color selection is available on the 90 and 110 Estate body styles as well as the 90 Soft Top body style and is available to customers to match the color and trim specifications of the new luxury performance flagship Defender OCTA. Each Classic Defender V8 is meticulously finished in the paint shop for 300 hours, with a gloss finish or a matte finish to match the OCTA’s optional protective film.
Other options, such as a gloss black grille and carbon fiber lettering on the hood, also help meet OCTA specifications, but ownership of an OCTA is not required to enjoy the customization options available on the Classic Defender V8. Individual vehicles are built to order by UK-based Land Rover Classic, each based on a 2012 to 2016 donor vehicle and restored with a 400hp 5.0-litre V8 engine. The new Defender OCTAs combine the highlights of the modern and classic Defender eras, giving the Classic Defender the style of its successor’s high-performance flagship.
