If you’re interested in limited-edition off-roaders, Jeep just launched a year-long program that ties right back to its wartime roots. The brand calls it “Operation Airdrop,” referencing the Willys Jeep that was parachuted onto the battlefields of Europe in 1941. This vehicle defined the brand’s identity and served as a crucial tool in the war effort 85 years ago.
Building on a legacy built over eight and a half decades and seven million Wranglers sold to date, Operation Airdrop is also the structure for Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve program, where Jeep will introduce a new limited edition Wrangler on the 12th of each month over the following year. This gives you a predictable time frame for acquisition, and Jeep says there will be hidden visual clues in every video and on Jeep.com, and you can follow the feathers to see what’s coming next.
“The first release in our Twelve 4 Twelve series is the Jeep Wrangler Moab 392 Edition, a purpose-built powerhouse that delivers exceptional value and performance. Designed with a no-frills philosophy that focuses on what matters, it proudly reflects the Jeep brand’s core legacy.” – Bob Broderdorf, CEO, Jeep.
The first addition is a 2026 Wrangler Moab 392, and while the Wrangler lineup and the broader market have gradually shifted toward electrification, this model retains the 6.4-liter V8 with 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. As for the off-road hardware, you get a 2.72-to-1 Selec Trac full-time transfer case, 4.56 axle ratio, 35-inch all-terrains, and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. If you split your ride between city streets and difficult trails, this combination offers ease of use and performance without the need for rework. If you regularly deal with mud or standing water, the cold air intake hood with water separator comes in handy.
Inside you’ll find heated Nappa leather, a premium Alpine system and a 12.3-inch screen. Two options expand the possibilities in a meaningful way. The Sky One Touch Powertop gives you quick access to the outdoors, while an 8,000-pound Warn winch allows recovery without third-party installation. Starting MSRP is $79,995, excluding destination.
All of this comes as Stellantis undergoes a broader restructuring under new CEO Antonio Filosa. The group has allocated $13 billion for its US brands. Tim Kuniskis will now take on the newly created position of Head of American Brands. He retains his role as CEO of the truck brand and now works at Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge to improve marketing direction and strengthen dealer relationships. You can already see this change with Ram confirming its return to NASCAR in 2026 after reviving the HEMI V8 engines.
The Moab 392 fits into this broader strategy and is inspired by the 60th anniversary of the Easter Jeep Safari. The American automaker also notes that it continues to support projects that protect the Moab, Rubicon and Mojave regions. The next monthly airdrop will be released on December 12th.
