HP is using CES week 2026 to shine a spotlight on the HP OmniBook Ultra 14, with a simple pitch for buyers looking for a premium laptop that’s easier to carry.
In its CES 2026 announcement, HP says the 14-inch notebook is 5% thinner than a 2025 MacBook Air 13 and 52% lighter than the previous generation.
If you’re looking for practical details, you won’t find any pricing or a set shipping date in this announcement. HP only states that the OmniBook Ultra 14 is expected to be available on HP.com.
On paper, thinner than the MacBook Air
HP combines this Apple comparison with great design demands. It calls the Ultra 14 the world’s thinnest consumer notebook and says it can be configured with a 3K OLED display for multimedia workflows.
To make the slim design feel less like a compromise, HP also has posture detection that can detect neck tilt, slouching, and awkward angles when working.
Durability is also part of the playing field. HP notes 20 MIL STD 810 tests that include drops, shocks and extreme temperatures, a reassurance for anyone who has ever suffered burns to delicate thin parts and lights.
The AI sound gets louder
The OmniBook Ultra 14 is also HP’s loudest on-device AI device in this announcement. According to HP, you can opt for an exclusive HP Snapdragon X2 Elite variant with up to 85 NPU TOPS or opt for next-generation Intel Core Ultra processors aimed at graphics-intensive AI workloads.
This 85 TOPS figure is based on running multiple AI apps at the same time, with news aimed at faster content creation and automated tasks. HP also promises all-day battery life for both chip options, but doesn’t provide a specific hour figure for the Ultra 14.
What else is there to see?
HP says the OmniBook 3 can achieve 16 to 45 hours, calling this the world’s longest battery life in a consumer 16-inch OLED AI PC notebook.
HP also introduces the OmniStudio Surface View all-in-one, another note that lets you tilt the camera down to view sketches and notes on a call.
