HP just unveiled a new HP Keyboard PC at CES 2026, and it’s an oddly practical idea. The computer is housed in the keyboard, so you can transport your entire setup between desks without having to lug around a mini PC or laptop docking station.
The device is called HP EliteBoard G1a Next Gen AI PC. HP says it’s the world’s first PC with full AI built into a keyboard, citing local on-device AI performance rather than reliance on the cloud as its selling point.
As a counterpart, HP also announced the HP Series 7 Pro 4K monitor, aimed at people who live on large screens and switch between devices.
A desktop that goes on the go
According to HP, the EliteBoard G1a is 12mm thick and weighs 750g. Two microphones and speakers are integrated into the keyboard. You bring the keyboard, connect it to any available display, and get a desktop experience without a separate tower.
For AI workloads, HP points to an AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processor and an NPU with a rating of over 50 TOPS, plus Copilot+ PC positioning and EPEAT 2.0 Gold registration. It also features HP Smart Sense, AMD Auto State Management and an optional integrated battery to balance performance, cooling and power on the go.
What you gain and lose
The clear advantage is the simplicity for flexible working. If you hot-desk, work in multiple conference rooms, or split time between home and office, a keyboard PC could mean fewer boxes and fewer setup steps. Your monitor and peripherals can stay in place, and your computer can go with them.
The downside is that you’ll still need a screen no matter where you end up, and HP hasn’t announced pricing yet. Without pricing, it’s hard to say whether this will replace a small desktop, a business laptop, or a mix of both, especially for buyers outfitting teams.

HP says the EliteBoard G1a and Series 7 Pro 4K monitors are expected on their website in March, with pricing closer to launch.
