If you’re interested in downloading YouTube content, 4K Video Downloader Plus is one of the most powerful options out there that, despite the name, actually lets you download videos up to 8K.

The interface is user-friendly and you can queue up a video for download in under a minute once you find the one you want.

What you need

  • PC

  • Internet connection

To download YouTube videos, you need to download the software itself. Unlike some alternatives, it is not browser-based but resides as its own app on your computer. There are versions of the app for Windows, macOS and Ubuntu computers, as well as Android phones.

To get 4K Video Downloader Plus, visit the website. Look for the green “Free Download” button and the installation file will automatically download.

Select it, either in the download pop-up that appears in many browsers or from your computer’s Downloads folder, and the installation process will begin.

You must agree to the terms and conditions and, depending on your settings, allow the software to make changes to your computer (for the download process only).

One of the most useful features of the platform is the built-in browser, so you can find the videos without having to open another application.

Note: YouTube’s Terms of Service do not allow you to download videos unless expressly permitted or unless you have written permission from YouTube and copyright holders (if required), or as permitted by law. You may only download material that is not protected by copyright and that you have permission to download and use lawfully – for example, material that you own or that you wish to use in educational projects.

For the latter, the search menu in the browser has a filter that you can use to narrow the search for Creative Commons rights. These are videos that the creator is permitted to use publicly for his own works. It is good practice to cite them as sources.

Once you’ve selected the video you want, simply click on the YouTube icon on the homepage (don’t worry if you already have the YouTube links handy, because there’s an option to do so).

Once you’re in the YouTube version of the app, use the search bar to the right of the YouTube logo to search for the video you want.

If you have a YouTube account, it won’t be signed in, so your subscriptions and suggested videos won’t appear. You can log in using the button at the top right.

Search for the video you want and select it from the search menu. If you already have the URL handy, copy and paste it into the URL bar just above the search bar. You can also use this method to download your own unlisted videos in Creator Studio.

Once you find the video you want to download, you’ll notice a difference from a standard YouTube page: a large green “Download” button floats at the bottom of the page. As you can probably guess, you need to press this button and the video will automatically download.

You will be redirected to the downloader page where you can see the download status: the amount of memory used, the download speed and the estimated time until the file is completely downloaded.

On this page, which is also the “main menu” of the app, you can change settings; whether you download video or audio, what quality you download and where the fully downloaded file is saved.

You will also see the number of your daily downloads. In the free option, the number is limited to 10, but for those of you who need more, subscribing to a premium plan will give you access to unlimited downloads.

And when you’re ready to search for more videos to download, click the globe icon at the bottom right to return to the browser.

How to download other videos with 4K Video Downloader Plus

As already mentioned, the software allows you to download videos not only from YouTube but also from other platforms, provided you adhere to the terms and conditions and only download content where you are legally allowed to do so. The full list includes Facebook, Vimeo, TikTok, SoundCloud, Discord and DailyMotion.

If you want to download videos from any of these platforms using 4K Video Downloader Plus, you can follow similar instructions as the YouTube section. Simply select the service in the app’s browser, find the video you want and select “Download.”

Some services, like Facebook and Vimeo, require you to log in through the browser to see what’s available. To save time, you can jump directly to the video via a browser link.

Downloading YouTube videos is quick and easy when you use software that comprehensively handles this task, and you can get started with 4K Video Downloader Plus for free today.
