How friendship fueled these two custom Ferrari Daytona SP3s

Two friends living their best lives!

Some friendships are built on shared jokes or late-night conversations, but for some, the bond is forged through horsepower and high revs. For Curt Garner and Yahn Bernier, their connection has always revolved around a love of all things automotive, and in particular factory Ferrari race cars and ultra-exclusive production models. Their passion for speed and Italian craftsmanship recently caught the attention of Ferrari’s Tailor Made program and turned that dream into the shared reality of owning bespoke Daytona SP3 specifications.

The two met at Ferrari in Seattle about a decade ago, and what started as a casual car conversation quickly blossomed into a decades-long friendship. Business success, Garner in the food industry and Bernier in gaming software, both were given the opportunity to pursue their four-wheeled dreams, from street cars to Ferrari Challenge racers, by testing the limits on the track and forging bonds that were as much about trust and shared experiences as they were about horsepower.

This connection reached its peak in 2022 when the friends, along with their families, traveled to Ferrari’s Tailor Made offices on Park Avenue in New York to configure customized Daytona SP3s. Tailor Made, Ferrari’s bespoke program, connects customers with experts who guide the development of each vehicle, ensuring that every choice, from exterior color to interior stitching, reflects a blend of personal taste and Ferrari’s tireless design DNA. Bernier’s wife and daughter chose a striking, shiny Sanus silver for his SP3 with subtle Rosso F1 2004 accents and red technical fabric seats reminiscent of the legendary 250 GTO 4153GT. Garner and his wife went bolder with Blu Elettrico, complemented by accents of Alluminio Lucido and Rosso Fiorano, which provided a visual connection to Garner’s Monza SP2. What might have been a transactional process instead became an immersive, creative configuration experience, concluded by a private dinner with family, Ferrari representatives and premium Italian wines.

Both friends have already racked up miles on their customized SP3s, combining everyday driving with appearances on the track and at car shows. Bernier occasionally drives to work or events, while Garner plans a summer road trip to Pebble Beach with his wife. Beyond the cars themselves, it is the journey together, the design discussions and the laughter along the way that shape their story. As Garner puts it, “I’ll definitely do this again, and I hope I can do it with Yahn.” Bernier nods firmly; It’s less a hope than a promise, a reminder that for these two friends, the ultimate supercar isn’t just about speed, but about the journey you take together.
