Galaxy S26 features improved gallery search so you can instantly find important moments in videos

Samsung introduced an AI-powered natural language search feature in its Gallery app last year with the Galaxy S25 series. With the new Galaxy S26 series, the company has expanded this functionality, enabling real-time results and the ability to pinpoint specific moments in videos.

A recent post on Samsung’s Korean community forums reveals that the Gallery app on Galaxy S26 series devices has a more powerful search engine and video analytics tool. It is capable of providing real-time results and displaying photos and videos as soon as a search term is entered.

For example, if you type “tree” in the search bar, photos with trees will immediately appear. Adding a modifier like “snowy” will refine the results to only show images of snow-covered trees. While the faster results are useful, the real benefit is that the improved search functionality goes beyond photos. It can even analyze videos and highlight the exact moment in a clip that matches the search query.

The post demonstrates this with a search for “walking tiger,” which brings up the corresponding video and jumps straight to the exact second the tiger appears. This makes it much easier for users to quickly find specific moments in long videos, saving time and eliminating the need to manually search through clips.

The updated search feature is currently exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series and Samsung hasn’t confirmed whether it will reach older devices with a software update. To experience the feature first-hand, you’ll need one of Samsung’s latest flagship models. Luckily, there are some great pre-order deals that can save you money.
