Ford Everest Tremor gets 260kW V6 “Ranger Raptor” treatment

The most powerful version of the Ford Everest to date has hit the market abroad. The automaker has added a more powerful twin-turbo V6 to its off-road Tremor model to create a pseudo-Everest Raptor.

The more powerful Everest Tremor 4×4 features a 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine – from an engine family first used in the F-150 – producing 260kW and 500Nm, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

That’s not quite as powerful as the 292kW Ranger Raptor currently in showrooms, but it’s in line with its 500Nm of torque.

The Everest Tremor 4×4 currently sold in Australia features a 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 producing 184kW and 600Nm, which is also mated to a 10-speed automatic.

The combination of the Tremor 4×4 model class – which offers an off-road focus with all-terrain tires and Bilstein suspension – with the more powerful engine is the closest thing yet to a true Everest Raptor.

While Ford Middle East and North Africa announced this, the automaker described the 2.7-liter Everest as “exclusive to the Middle East” in a statement.

Ford Australia has not confirmed the stronger Tremor for local showrooms and has already denied suggestions of an Everest Raptor since the launch of the first Ranger Raptor in 2018.

The Ranger and Everest use the same ladder chassis fundamentals and core components, including some engines and transmissions; However, the hero Raptor has not found its way into the popular SUV.
