The Cupra was born Electric Vehicle (EV) has been recalled due to a battery issue that could lead to a vehicle fire.
“Due to a manufacturing problem, the cell modules installed in the high-voltage battery could be defective and overheat,” the company says in the recall notice.
“In this case, a vehicle fire could occur. The range of the vehicle could also be affected.”
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders and/or property damage.”
Cupra Australia advises that a warning light may illuminate in the instrument cluster.

“Until the repair is completed, Cupra asks consumers to limit the charging capacity to 80 percent charge, not to charge the high-voltage battery via an external charging source and to park the vehicle outdoors to maintain sufficient distance from properties and/or other vehicles,” the company says in the recall notice.
