Meanwhile, the MG ZS rating for vehicles built from December 4, 2025 has been increased from four to five stars.
MG recently confirmed the introduction of a front-center airbag across the range from said build date, increasing the Chinese crossover’s adult occupant rating from 75 percent to 81 percent, which also adds a fifth star to its safety rating.
“ANCAP encourages all manufacturers to make safety improvements as part of their ongoing design updates, and MG deserves recognition for proactively improving the ZS,” said Carla Hoorweg, CEO of ANCAP.

Finally, the GWM Haval H7 “demonstrated a solid performance in ANCAP crash protection and accident avoidance ratings,” resulting in another five-star rating for the Chinese brand.
However, during full-width frontal impact testing, “an anomaly was observed where the driver’s headrest separated from the seat back,” resulting in a voluntary safety recall for vehicles already sold.
“Ensuring the integrity and performance of basic restraint systems is central to ANCAP’s mission. When our testing reveals unexpected results, we work with the vehicle manufacturer to ensure the best safety outcomes for existing and future owners,” said Ms. Hoorweg.
ANCAP’s five-star rating only applies to GWM Haval H7 models built from October 15, 2025. Vehicles built before this date (VINs LGWEFUA60RF800006 through LGWEFUA6XSF802190) will not be considered for this rating until the recall is complete.
