Caterham’s new Working Project V prototype heads to the Tokyo Auto Salon

Caterham’s new electric prototype is to be presented in Tokyo.

Known for ultra-light sports cars with classic driving pleasure and track-ready character, Caterham has a celebrated heritage in the automotive industry, particularly among British manufacturers. Today there is a new chapter on the horizon for Caterham: the prototype of a new electric performance car called “Project V” is being presented. The first working prototype of Project V is scheduled to be displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon next year, which opens on January 9, 2026 in the heart of the Japanese capital.

Following its presentation at the Tokyo Auto Salon, Project V will continue a testing program already underway through 2026, including testing its innovative CTP battery system, which uses a unique approach to the universal BEV challenge of thermal management, as well as testing Yamaha Motor’s chassis and e-axle. In addition to the appearance in Tokyo, the show car version of Project V will also be on display at CES 2026 in Las Vegas and will make its debut in the USA on January 6, 2026.

With series production of the all-electric sports car underway, the exhibition of a new working Caterham Project V prototype marks a new milestone in the journey to reimagining the esteemed heritage of lightweight, track-ready British sports cars for which Caterham is known and celebrated.
