Bentley unveils new art-inspired Mulliner collection

Bentley’s latest Mulliner collection pays homage to art history.

There is a certain level of artistry in every Mulliner custom Bentley. With a nearly limitless number of possible configurations, ultra-luxurious finishes and a wide range of colors to choose from inside and out, Mulliner’s bespoke luxury and craftsmanship, reflected in a rapidly growing number of Bentley commissions, make Bentleys works of art. However, Mulliner’s latest collection is a tribute to the giants of art history: the Dutch masters, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer.

The first car is a Continental GTC Cabriolet, inspired by Rembrandt’s 1642 work The Night Watch. The exterior is finished in Midnight Emerald, and the interior features Magnolia and Hotspur leather upholstery, inspired by Captain Frans Banninck Cocq, the painting’s central figure, and his lieutenant’s coat. Cumbrian green piano panels and gold organ stoppers underline the opulent elegance, and opening the door reveals an animated feather welcome lamp.

The second is inspired by Johannes Vermeer. Bentley, known for painting bright, cool interiors, recalled its work in a Continental GT with a satin sapphire finish and panoramic sunroof, as well as a Beluga and Ocean Blue skin interior with Citric Yellow accents and Klein Blue piping. A cloud formation from his 1658 painting The Little Street served as inspiration for the animated welcome lamp, and other bespoke details serve as nods to his incredible work.

The third is inspired by Van Gogh, whose incredibly famous Starry Night served as the inspiration for a Continental GT. The colorful post-impressionist work inspired the configuration of the Continental GT with its Dark Sapphire exterior complemented by yellow Khamun pinstripes. The swirl pattern seen in the painting is replicated in the animated welcome lamp, and the painting’s use of Indian Yellow inspired the yellow accents in the interior, with gold organ stops and walnut veneers enhancing the luxurious design.

Artistry has always been a part of Mulliner’s approach to premium automotive quality, but with a new collection inspired by the Dutch masters, Mulliner’s bespoke luxury and craftsmanship is a standout example of his signature approach to ultra-luxury automotive quality and his ability to create some of the most incredible Bentley vehicles to emerge from the manufacturer’s historic Crewe factory.
