Bentley introduces first electric vehicle and announces hybrid vehicles by 2035

Bentley is adapting its Beyond100 ambitions and path to electrification.

Bentley has been one of the most eager and ambitious luxury car manufacturers for years when it comes to futurism and sustainability. Its Beyond100 plans, unveiled around the brand’s 100th anniversary, set out its ambitions to transform its product range and introduce radical sustainability approaches, not only to the powertrains of its vehicles, but also to the way the company makes those vehicles, with a factory and manufacturing process also focused on sustainability.

Since then, consumer demand for electric vehicles has changed, and Bentley’s recent announcement has resulted in a slight change in course in its plans. Bentley is still committed to introducing electric vehicles, with the first, a “luxury city SUV,” due to launch next year. Designed for everyday driving pleasure, the vehicle, whose name has not yet been announced, will be less than five meters long and will have a range from zero to one hundred miles in less than seven minutes.

Meanwhile, hybrid Bentley models such as the current Continental GT and Continental GT Speed will be available until at least 2035, marking a significant change in Bentley’s electrification plan, and new non-hybrid models also continue to be part of the picture. The new Bentayga Speed is a non-hybrid model, and another non-hybrid model, likely the upcoming new Continental Supersports, is scheduled to be unveiled later this year. With adjusted plans, Bentley continues to strive for both sustainability and the highest luxury automotive quality with Beyond100.
