dR LIVE continues to keep things simple and straightforward with curated listings, clear documentation, and enough background information to understand what is actually being offered. This week’s final auctions reflect that approach, with three cars all aimed at performance but coming from very different places. There’s a modern AMG built with few compromises, a Ferrari from the end of the naturally aspirated era, and an American track-focused Mustang that shows how far factory performance and thoughtful modifications can go.
The most modern and extreme of the group is a 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series Project One Edition. Already AMG’s most focused road car, the standard GT Black Series is based on a flat-plane crank twin-turbo V8 and a sophisticated aerodynamic package designed specifically for track use. This example adds the details of the Project One Edition, a visual and thematic nod to Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 program that was offered to a very small group of buyers. Finished in obsidian black, the car demonstrates documented ownership history and recent maintenance. Its appeal is less about the sheer numbers and more about what it stands for: the furthest AMG a front-engined road car has ever made.
Next up is a 2008 Ferrari F430 Scuderia with around 18,000 miles, finished in Rosso Scuderia. The Scuderia has become a popular meeting place for many Ferrari enthusiasts. It is lighter and more direct than the standard F430, still has a naturally aspirated engine and is closely based on Ferrari’s Formula 1 development at the time. This example shows a consistent ownership history and a recent comprehensive service that repaired key mechanical parts, which is of great importance in vehicles like this. It’s not a museum piece, but it’s clearly been cared for, which is exactly what people want from a driver-focused Ferrari.
Rounding out the group is a 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, which is aimed more at the enthusiast-built side of the spectrum. The GT350R is already known for its high-revving Voodoo V8, manual transmission and stripped-back approach, and this example takes it a step further with a VMP supercharger and supporting upgrades. A recent engine replacement and follow-up service helps put the changes into context and shows the car has been sorted and not just shown up. Taken together, these three listings seem intentionally different – different eras, different philosophies and different ways of pursuing the same thing, making them a good snapshot of the kind of cars that typically show up on dR LIVE.
