Patent images of the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado have surfaced online after being published by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
First discovered by a US magazine car and driver, Official line drawings show a fresh design for the new-generation Silverado, which is expected to be unveiled next year – although it could be late 2027 or early 2028 before the pickup hits Australian driveways following local development and a right-hand drive overhaul.
Chevrolet will retain the angular front look, with a thin light strip at the leading edge of the bonnet – not entirely unlike the latest Toyota HiLux – and the C-shaped main headlight units sit underneath.
The taillights are reminiscent of the C-shaped headlights, although Chevrolet appears to have added a trim piece across the entire width of the tailgate.

While the patent application didn’t show the interior, previous spy photos from US dealerships show a wide 33-inch display spanning the entire cabin, combining the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen – similar to some electric Cadillacs for sale.
In addition to the dual humps in the hood, the pickup features two cutouts in the rear bumper for two separate dual exhaust outlets (for a total of four), suggesting that a V8 engine will still be used.
According to the report, General Motors has confirmed that it is working on a next-generation V8 engine for its pickup trucks and SUVs, with production scheduled for 2027.
However, it says in a statement about it car and driver, GM downplayed the patent images.
“GM regularly files with the U.S. Patent Office to protect our intellectual property, brand and technologies,” the company said in a statement provided.
“Registrations do not always provide information about future products. We cannot comment on speculation about future products.”
