2026 Volkswagen ID. Polo EV spied along with ID card. Polo GTI electric hot hatch

The Volkswagen ID. polo The electric hatch has been spotted testing ahead of its global launch later this year, with the hot GTI – the brand’s first GTI-badged electric vehicle (EV) – also spotted in prototype form.

The ID card was captured on camera with little or no disguise. Polo – Volkswagen uses its iconic model names for its electric vehicles – was spotted in several model levels on snow-covered streets in Italy.

The city-sized sedan, which slots below the ID.3 in Volkswagen’s electric range, will use the new MEB+ architecture and be 4053mm long, making it similar in size to the current combustion engine Polo.

It will be sold alongside the existing Polo in showrooms rather than replacing it; The ‘regular’ Polo will receive upgrades, including new technology and possibly mild-hybrid and hybrid powertrains to keep it fresh.

These spy pictures reveal the ID. Polo will sport the edgy look of the March 2023 ID. 2all concept will hit showrooms when it goes on sale in Europe later this year, as Volkswagen looks to capitalize after taking the top spot in electric vehicle sales in Europe from Tesla in 2025.

There are recessed rear door handles for a smoother profile, while sporty touches like an integrated rear spoiler and diffuser-style rear bumper suggest one of the test vehicles is an R-Line.

The Polo GTI is immediately recognizable by its larger wheels, bumpers and side skirts as well as the red brake calipers that stand out from the black paint.

Volkswagen Australia previously announced this Daily Sparkz Local showrooms “will definitely have it (the production Polo EV), just a question of when.”
