The Toyota bZ4X has received extensive optimizations for 2026, resulting in more power and range as well as more standard equipment – although at a lower price than before.
The entry-level, single-motor, front-wheel-drive version of Toyota Australia’s first electric vehicle (EV) now costs $55,990 before on-road costs, a reduction of $10,010, while the two-motor, four-wheel-drive flagship now costs $67,990 plus on-road costs – down from $6,910. The updated mid-size electric SUV range is now on sale.
Toyota’s move follows Subaru’s recent price cuts of $6,000 to $7,000 for its updated Solterra, the bZ4X’s twin.
Both the FWD and AWD variants of the bZ4X receive a new 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery and more powerful electric motors.

The base front-wheel drive variant produces 15kW more power, 2.6Nm more torque and offers 155km more range on the WLTP cycle, while the all-wheel drive variant has performance increases of 92kW, 101Nm and 106km.
All bZ4Xs continue to offer a maximum DC fast charging power of 150 kW, but their maximum AC charging power has been doubled to 22 kW.
Toyota is offering private buyers the choice of a free 7kW Jet Charge home charger or a one-year/625kWh Chargefox voucher through the Toyota Go loyalty program until the end of 2026.
The company is also offering a “limited time deposit” of $5,000 for the bZ4X 2WD and $7,500 for the AWD to retail customers who want to finance their bZ4X through Toyota Finance Australia.
