The best-selling Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has gained another competitor, this time one from Korea with an unknown name.
The KGM Torres Hybrid is the first hybrid from the Korean brand formerly known as SsangYong.
It will be available at select KGM retailers starting this month before nationwide sales begin on December 1, 2025.
At $45,000 for private buyers, the base Torres Hybrid K30 sits below the new-generation RAV4 hybrid range, which is priced at $45,990 (excluding on-road costs).
The flagship Torres Hybrid K40 costs $48,000 with the car.

The gasoline-powered Torres models are currently offered for $36,000 to $43,000 including factory bonuses.
However, you’ll have to step up to the Hybrid K40 to get features like blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. However, if you want certain luxuries like ventilated front seats or genuine leather upholstery, you’re out of luck – buy a petrol Torres Ultimate instead.
The hybrid variants feature unique badges and alloy wheel designs, as well as a black C-pillar treatment.
Unlike rivals like the RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson, all-wheel drive is not available.

Drives and efficiency
The Torres Hybrid is powered by a so-called dual-tech hybrid system that KGM developed in collaboration with BYD and features a pair of electric motors and a hybrid-specific transmission.
It can operate in EV mode in urban traffic at speeds of up to 100 km/h. When the battery charge level is low, the engine starts automatically and acts as a generator for charging. During strong acceleration or when driving uphill, the motor drives the wheels directly parallel to the electric drive motor.
According to KGM, the Torres Hybrid uses new shock absorbers with Smart Frequency Damping for improved ride comfort and driving stability.
