An updated one GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) SUV has been spotted in Australia, featuring interior and powertrain changes ahead of its expected launch in local showrooms in the coming months.
A competitor to the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and BYD Sealion 6, the Haval H6 GT PHEV spotted in a Melbourne shopping center car park carries the ‘PHEV Hi4’ badge, indicating the fitment of the brand’s upgraded PHEV all-wheel drive system, already offered locally on the regular Haval H6 PHEV.
It also showcases an updated interior, including a larger center screen, a simplified center console and a new steering wheel – the same changes revealed in an updated version unveiled for Brazil earlier this week.

When Daily Sparkz When asked about the updated H6 GT PHEV for Australia, a company spokesperson said: “There is no information available at this time to confirm or the timing of this update for ANZ (Australia and New Zealand).”
However, it is expected to launch here in the second quarter (April to June) of 2026.
While GWM Australia has not officially confirmed any changes for the local market, the updated version of the Haval H6 GT PHEV unveiled in Brazil appears to bring the same changes as the vehicle shown here.
The exterior may remain unchanged, but there are significant improvements on the inside.
Cabin improvements for the Brazilian version include a 14.6-inch center touchscreen – replacing the current Australian model’s 12.3-inch unit – with the new, faster Coffee OS 3 software.
In addition to improved responsiveness and features such as artificial intelligence (AI)-based voice control, the GWM Connected Services smartphone app, first seen on the Tank 500 in Australia in 2024, is expected to be added.
The app allows remote control of door locks, horn, lights, air conditioning and seat heating and ventilation.
The Brazilian reveal also features the same new steering wheel as the vehicle spotted locally, with a carried-over 10.25-inch instrument cluster but a simpler, less cluttered center console – although the row of physical buttons between the center storage area and the touchscreen remains.
Also new is the addition of the Hi4 all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain, already offered in the Haval H6 PHEV, producing a total system output of 268kW and 760Nm with an official combined fuel consumption of 1.1L/100km.
Like the previous Haval H6 GT PHEV and the current Haval H6 PHEV, the updated coupe SUV uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and a special hybrid transmission in combination with two electric motors – one on each axle – for all-wheel drive.
However, unlike the Haval H6 PHEV sold here, there is a larger 35kWh battery (instead of 19.09kWh), which is the same as the Haval H6 GT PHEV available in the Australian market.
The brand is also locally promoting its ‘Hi4’ and ‘Hi4T’ all-wheel drive systems, already fitted to the Tank 500 PHEV and Cannon Alpha ute, to address tougher emissions regulations in Australia.
Although it doesn’t wear the Hi4 badge there, the H6 GT PHEV available in the Brazilian market is said to produce 380 kW and 772 Nm, although on the same website it also claims 393 CV, which is 289 kW. The stated electric range in the WLTP cycle is 170 km.
For comparison: the Haval H6 GT PHEV available on the Australian market has a total output of 321 kW and 762 Nm and a purely electric range of 180 km in the milder NEDC cycle. With its smaller battery, the Haval H6 PHEV offers an NEDC range of 100 km in all-wheel drive.
The updated Haval H6 GT also accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, matching the acceleration figure of the current Haval H6 PHEV sold in Australian showrooms.
The Haval H6 range, including the H6 and the H6 GT – which brings a swoop roof for a more distinctive look – was the second best-selling model range in the GWM Australia range last year, behind only the Haval Jolion SUV.
The brand posted record sales in Australia in 2025, ranking seventh overall, with sales up 23.4 percent year-on-year.
