A revised and expanded model 2026 Ford F-150 The range is crowned with a new one platinum flagship, as part of the first upgrade for the iconic American pickup range since its official release in Australia in 2023 – and it will remain the cheapest full-size double cab model on sale here despite price increases.
The improved MY25 F-150, which hits showrooms in early 2026, will be $8,000 more expensive at base level than before but still cheaper than its main rivals, while the new Platinum will cost $163,950 before on-road costs – more than the most expensive Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 (from $144,900) and the Ram 1500 Limited ($159,950), but less than the Toyota Tundra Platinum ($172,990).
“We have listened to our customers who have been asking for a full-size truck that offers a more upscale, luxurious experience, and the F-150 Platinum delivers exactly that,” Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson said in a press release today.
This is the first update for the F-150 from Ford Australia. The current stock in the showrooms are all MY23 vehicles. Australia hasn’t missed any model year updates for the F-150 so far, and the US is set to release a MY26 update soon.

Ford Australia has watched its rivals roll out updates, including the MY25 Ram 1500 with a new ‘Hurricane’ twin-turbo inline-six petrol engine, or all-new models such as the Tundra, due out in 2024, along with right-hand drive Ram and Silverado pickups from Walkinshaw Automotive in Melbourne (RHD) is being converted.
Although badged as a MY25 model, Ford Australia’s updated F-150, which continues to be converted to right-hand drive across Melbourne from RMA, reflects the MY24 updates offered in North America, including a revised exterior with a new front bumper, grille and headlights, as well as a new rear bumper, taillights and Alloy wheels.
The flagship F-150 Platinum will lead the updated model lineup, adding a third variant positioned above the entry-level model XLT and middle class lasso. All three trim levels are offered in short wheelbase (SWB) and long wheelbase (LWB) body styles.
Ford has also reduced the price premium for LWB models, so all three F-150 variants are now priced the same in both SWB and LWB trims.
However, the starting price of the F-150
The mid-range Lariat now costs $143,950 before on-road costs – an increase of $4,000 for the SWB and $3,000 for the LWB, which has full-time four-wheel drive.
Inside, the XLT gets a larger 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as additional USB ports, while cabin changes for the Lariat include Bang & Olufsen audio and heated and cooled front seats.
Platinum variants feature black leather upholstery, memory function for the front driver’s seat, black badging, gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels and continuously adjustable suspension damping.
The 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine remains the only powertrain available to Australian buyers. It produces the same power of 298 kW and 678 Nm of torque, is again equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers a braked towing capacity of up to 4,500 kg.
The F-150 was North America’s best-selling vehicle for 42 years until it was overtaken by the Toyota RAV4 in 2024, and remains the most popular pickup truck in the United States.
However, sales of the F-150 in Australia have been hampered by numerous recalls and several supply disruptions, the latest of which was lifted earlier this week.
Ford Australia has sold just 549 examples of the F-150 so far this year through September, compared to 618 Tundras, 1,636 Silverados and 2,112 Ram 1500s over the same period.
