BYD Australia has released full specifications for its region Act 1 However, key pricing for its all-new entry-level electric vehicle (EV) won’t be revealed until mid-November, when order books open.

Prices
We can expect the base ‘Essential’ version to be priced around the $25,000 mark, making the Atto 1 by far Australia’s cheapest new electric vehicle – currently that title is held by the larger BYD Dolphin hatch, which is available from $29,990 before on-road costs.

Dimensions
At less than four meters long, the Atto 1 is slightly longer than the hybrid-powered Toyota Yaris light hatch, but 300mm shorter than its smaller Dolphin counterpart.

Maintenance and warranty
The Atto 1 is covered by BYD Australia’s six-year, 150,000km vehicle warranty and eight-year, 160,000km battery warranty. However, service costs with maximum prices are yet to be announced.

The Atto 1 has not yet been rated by ANCAP, although the Dolphin Surf, available on the European market, recently received a five-star rating for 2025 from Euro NCAP.
